Helping People Change: An Introduction to Motivational Interviewing

When: Wednesday, April 22, 2026 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Where:
400 N. Erie Blvd. Ste. A, Hamilton, OH 45011

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, evidence-based communication approach that helps individuals explore and strengthen their own motivation for change. Grounded in empathy and respect for autonomy, MI focuses on listening more than directing—using open questions, reflective listening, and affirmation to reduce resistance and support goal setting.

This 3.5-hour training equips people with strategies to support those struggling with behavior change. Participants will learn the core principles of motivational interviewing, develop communication skills and interventions to reduce ambivalence toward change and apply tools for managing challenging situations to improve outcomes.
